- None needed.
Directions:
- Loop trail in park.
On our way to Kona, we visited Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site. There we continued to learn more about Kamehameha and the history of Hawai'i. There is also a trail at the park, so we took a quick walk around it. It was hot, so we didn't want to linger on the trail. The stone building is a Hawaiian temple, built by Kamehameha in 1790-1791. It is a war temple and was built before Kamehameha unified all of the islands of Hawaii.
We checked into our place in Kona and then headed out for my first luau. The food was okay - probably better for meat eaters, but I enjoyed the dancing a lot.
| View from our place in Kona. We frequently saw dolphins from our lanai. |
