We have a lanai where we were staying, and it's a great place to watch dolphins from while eating breakfast.

We started the day with a trip to a small coffee plantation, Rising Kona, knowing that Kona coffee is world famous. Sadly, I don't drink coffee anymore. The free tour was interesting though. My father used to grow a coffee tree indoors when I was growing up, but he never did anything with the cherries.

I found a dosa restaurant on Happy Cow. It was in a food court building - the food was pretty good, but the service was not.

From there we went to Puu Honua o Honaunau National Historic Park. With each of these national parks, we learn a little bit more about the history of Hawai'i. This site was considered a place of refuge. There's a movie at the park where you can learn about it. We did two hikes here, one a loop trail, and then an out and back. The loop trail was more about the history of Hawaii - I sketched a little there.
