We stopped by Cypress Gardens on our way home from Charleston. There is an easy trail system (some paved, some not) on the grounds of this former plantation. There were lots of trees, shrubs, and bulbs already in bloom. The swamp was beautiful and so peaceful in the morning. After we finished hiking, we went out on a boat tour of the swamp (no paddling required). We saw alligators and turtles on our boat ride. We learned that the sex of an alligator is determined by the temperature of their eggs! There is also a mini aquarium there and a butterfly house (though this was not nearly as impressive as the one in Gainesville, FL).

The trails were very well marked

This gorgeous flowering plant came from the Biltmore in Asheville.

2 injured alligators who live in captivity. The closest one was massive.
