We joined the CMC for a hike in the Smokies. Our hike leader, Danny, was a wealth of information about the area. We learned about the towns in the Big Cataloochee and Little Cataloochee area. The beginning of the hike is beautiful, walking along a river on the Pretty Hollow Gap Trail. From there, we hiked  uphill on the Little Cataloochee Trail. This hike passes by a cabin, a stone apple storage building, and a church with a cemetery. I have to say, I spent much of this hike staring at the ground, as we were swimming in leaves. Two good things to know - the Smokies have no park entrance fee, and hunting is not allowed.
