We are hoping to find some close, not to long hikes with a lot of elevation gain. Since we are hiking Trek & Krummholz separately, it works out easier that way. We are trying to get in hiking shape, thus, we want something steep. Our plan today was to hike to South Beacon Mountain. However, we got there late in the day, and the parking area was a madhouse. And there were cars lined up along the street for a long way. There was even a bus in the parking area. People were streaming up the mountain. So, this wouldn't be a good hike for an off leash dog. After driving around for way too long, we decided to go somewhere else. We tried parking at Pocket Road, but that road also had no more parking. We had driven by Breakneck Ridge on the way to this hike - the number of cars parked for hiking there was insane. So we headed to Sunnyside Road, and that parking lot had space and only a handful of cars. We've hiked from here before. This hike turned out great. There was a lot of climbing, so we got our workout in. There weren't that many people on the trails, so Trek got to hike off leash the whole way. The hike has some views of the Hudson River. Trek got some petting in from people on the trail, so he felt really happy too. He had his 3rd chemo on Thursday, and his appetite has been off since then. I ended up feeding him only canned food this morning, to make sure he ate, since he turned up his nose at kibble.
