We left Maui and flew to Honolulu. After getting a rental car we headed over to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. We didn't book any tickets ahead of time. We stopped at the National Park Service booth and then went to the free sites offered by the NPS. There are other paid sites which aren't part of the National Park Service. We looked at the exhibits and took a short boat ride ($1) to the USS Arizona Memorial site. The exhibits are somber and educational. There was no time to sketch during our visit - I would have liked to. There's a lot to see, so if you had the time & inclination, you could spend a couple of days here. We just had part of a day to spend here.
We dropped off Phyllis who was going out to have dinner with a childhood friend, and then Dian and I went to the grocery store to find our dinner.
We checked into the hotel. Hawaii prices make me cranky. Besides the cost of our hotel, you pay $44/day for parking plus a $30 amenity fee (for things which we weren't even using - the "free" shuttle, bottled water, gym usage).
