A lot of my sketching friends have told me they love Ghost Ranch, that it's a really special place. We decided to go, not really knowing what to expect. We knew it was associated with Georgia O'Keefe, and knew they had a couple of museums.

As we approached, the scenery was stunning! Wow! We stopped by the visitor center and paid $10 for a day pass, which allows you access to the hiking trails and museums. We asked for suggestions for hikes, and decided to do the first one she mentioned, Chimney Rock. I loved this hike. In some of the shady areas, the trail was snowy and icy, but we just picked our way carefully through those.

We stopped by the museums and learned about the dinosaur bones that they've found at the ranch. And we learned that Oppenheimer and other Los Alamos scientists used to visit as well.

We did another short hike around the ranch, extending it by adding misc. trails. Both of us want to go back, and were trying to figure out what time of year would be cool enough to hike during the day, but warm enough to camp at night.

We stopped in the library, which was nicer than expected.
