Fisherman's Trail Day 11 - Vila do Bispo to Cabo Sao Vicente

Our last day hiking :( With my foot feeling good, I don't want to stop! A short hike today starting from our hotel. I tripped and fell on our hike - the only time on my vacation, which is pretty impressive. I expected to trip and fall in Lisbon with all of its cobblestones and uneven, cracked sidewalks.

We started out on dirt roads heading towards the coast. It was nice to have our last day of hiking be back on the cliffs. We headed towards the lighthouse in Cabo Sao Vicente, which is the most southwesterly point in Europe. We hung out on the cliffs, and finally got to see some dolphins in the ocean. There were a couple of people fishing there too. This is a huge tourist spot, with a long line of cars parked down the road.

Our taxi picked us up at 3pm and drove us to our hotel in Sagres. Our hotel has a view of the ocean. We went for a 'swim' - I was the only one who went in up to my head, as the water was freezing. Then off to the grocery store. Our hotel had no microwave, so Phyllis and I decided to go out for dinner. Back to our hotel for a shower, cookies and wine. Still no sunset which is unfortunate, as we have a beach view.

Leaving our hotel at Vila do Bispo

More snails

Hard to see he ocean on this foggy day

Stork's nest

Our destination - the lighthouse

We hadn't seen any guided trips on this hike.
But today we saw a large guided group out for a day hike.

I'm guessing this is a huge tourist spot because it's the most
southwesterly point of Europe????
Lots of people, lots of tents set up with people selling drinks or touristy things.
But no bathrooms!

Currently closed.

Fishermen

This was the most crowded place on our hike.

A fort next to the lighthouse. No access - currently closed.

View from our hotel in Sagres.

It had huge, manicured rosemary plants.
I wish our winters were mild enough that I could grow them this big!

We walked to the beach next to our hotel.

Brrrrrrr

Dian joined us

Snacks on our balcony, drying out our clothes.
