Fisherman's Trail Day 10 - Carrapateira to Vila do Bispo

Date Distance Time Elevation Gain Average Moving Time Year to Date Miles

Today we left our wonderful hotel in Carrapateira and got a short taxi ride to Pedralva with another couple. We followed the signs for the Historic Way (red and white blazes), even when the Mac's guide said to go a different way. This way ended up being shorter than the Mac's route, which was good because I forgot to refill my water bottles, and only had 1 1/4 liters. Even though temps were only around 70 degrees, it was hot, and there was no place to get water all day. We arrived early in town, but were able to check into our hotel and shower. We walked around town and Tara and I went shopping for dinner and lunch. Phyllis and Dian went out for dinner, meeting up with a German couple that we've talked to a lot on trail. We keep meeting hikers from other countries, but very few from the US. At our new hotel, we struggled figuring out how to make tea and coffee. Once we figured it out, we showed everyone else how to do it lol. Our hotel has a full kitchen with unlimited tea cand coffee :) Tonight we met an Italian/British couple who had moved to Portugal and love it here.

View from our hotel room.

Every day during breakfast, the yellow jackets would harass us.
I donated my jam to them.

So many snails!

Exploring Vila do Bispo

Portugal has the best chimneys!

Wine is very inexpensive here.

Shopping at Aldi's for dinner

I found chana masala at Aldi's!

Dian and Phyllis ate dinner with friends we've made on the trail.
