I woke up at 5:30am. I'm not a morning person, but it's bright so early here, that I naturally would wake up early. We had our good taxi driver this morning. He's a mellow driver :) We got dropped off at Cruz Bay (ferry location, big town on the island). We started a hike on the Lind Point Trail. It was very hot by the time we started. Dripping sweat, especially climbing uphill.

We descended down to Honeymoon Beach which was very quiet in the morning. We went snorkeling and saw lots of types of fish and another sea turtle (yeah!).

We continued on and hiked up to Caneel Hill with a view and then down Tamarind Trail. I think this is the day that we did find Tamarind pods on the trail. Yum! It was so hot climbing, that I finished all 3 liters of water that I brought.

We got a taxi to Cruz Bay and stopped by the grocery store there to pick up a few things. We didn't have a cooler at the campground, but they do provide a storage box for storing food in order to keep ants/lizards/mongoose/birds out. Well, the lizards sometimes did manage to get in the box. I found my carrots, pita, and apples kept well in the box, despite the heat. We stopped by the Virgin Island National Park visitor center. It was small but informative. It looks like they are building a larger visitor center at a different location. We filled up our water bottles at the visitor center and sat outside to eat our lunch at their picnic tables. Lots of chickens stopped by looking for food.

We then took a taxi to Trunk Bay. It's helpful to have a lot of cash, as we are constantly hiring taxis. We snorkeled at Trunk Bay but found the fish less interesting there. The National Park Service is at this beach, and they charge $5 to access the beach. It was a much more touristy/busy beach than others we've been to. This beach has an underwater snorkel trail which we did. There are signs to read on the bottom of the ocean.

We took a taxi back to camp and listened to a man playing drums and singing.
