After visiting Mammoth Cave National Park, we continued on to Nashville, IN to watch the total eclipse. We arrived the day before the eclipse and had no traffic at all. We stopped by Bloomington, IN, where I went to grad school. The town was barely recognizable to me. It looks much less rural than I remember it. Nashville is a very touristy town. We wanted to get a short hike in today, so we drove to a trailhead that I discovered via google maps. I didn't realize this was part of a county park, and this was just one trail out of many. Krumm likes to swim, so it seemed like a good choice. This was a busy park, made busier by the eclipse. The park offers camping, and of course the campground was full. We could tell the park had made preparations for the eclipse, roping off areas to prevent people from parking where they shouldn't.

We hiked the easy trail around the lake. We got caught in a short downpour, but no worries. We let Krumm swim, so he was very happy. On the way out, we climbed up a lookout tower, which reminds me of the house on chicken legs from the Baba Yaga folk tale.

Practicing for the big day

Happy dog in a hole

Dutchman's Breeches

Oops...pouring rain

We drove by this on our way out and had to stop.

View from the tower.
