On Wednesday, my foot was complaining about my 6.2-mile hike, so on Thursday I rested and today I really wanted to take it easy. The solution - waterfall hikes. We drove to Highlands - yes, a long way for these mini hikes. Listening to podcasts and audio books makes the time go by quickly.

Our first hike of the day was Dry Falls. We had tried to see the falls in the summer, but the parking lot was full and was rather a madhouse. Today was a good day to visit. A weekday in the winter. Bonus - we've had lots of rain this month, so it's a good time to visit any waterfall. This one was gushing - so I'm not sure why it got named Dry Falls. It was very impressive. We saw 2 rainbows at the bottom of the falls - the colors were reversed when comparing them to each other. This is a quick stop, but well worth it. There is a path that goes behind the waterfall, but a locked gate blocked the path today.

On the way to our second waterfall, we saw Bridal Veil Falls along the side of the road. We pulled over and took a look.

A locked gate prevented us from walking behind the waterfall
