Parking:
Map:- Gai GPS app - I recommend printing out a map from the Gai website.
Directions:- Note that there are no blazes and no trail markings. Pass through the gate at the parking area. Take an immediate right. Cross the creek - it was challenging not to get our feet wet. Turn right at the first trail junction (at 0.4 miles). Keep straight/left at the next trail junction (at 0.7 miles). Very quickly you will come to another junction (at 0.8 miles), at which point we turned around and returned the same way.
Nice hike in Shope Creek with some elevation gain. Although we often see a bunch of cars in the parking lot, the trails here are never crowded. We would have liked to hike to Rock Knob, but we'll hold off until I can hike longer distances. Bears are very common here - so nice to hike it in the winter. I think we'll work on redlining the trails here. There are many we haven't done.
