Although I felt very behind, and my quad muscles were so tired, we decided to do a long AT hike on Wednesday. The elevation gain doesn't look too bad, but the hike was tiring for me. I feel like I need more recovery time. I carried 15 lbs. in my backpack, as I am trying to stay in backpacking shape. We passed by a couple of shelters today. We saw a few day hikers and a few thru & section hikers. We got to see a surprising number of fall wildflowers. This hike has some sections with good views.
After hiking, we drove back to Jones Meadow to pick up our car. I brought my stove with me, so I cooked us a new recipe - mango sticky rice. It hit the spot. We considered staying to watch the sunset, but we still had an hour and a half drive home and it had been a long day. I let Krummholz run around at Jones Meadow, which we had to ourselves for a while.

I let Krumm off leash next to the Jones Meadow parking area. He rolled around a lot but kept his eye on me. |
