Carolina Mountain Club Challenges:
We joined the Carolina Mountain Club for a hike up Graybeard Mountain. This hike is very close to Asheville. The hike had a long climb to the summit, sometimes easy, sometimes challenging. We stopped at Graybeard Falls - it was a small waterfall. We continued up to the summit, where we stopped to have lunch and got a view of Bearwallow Mountain, amongst others. We headed down and took a side trail to Walker Knob, where the view was even better - so worth the detour. The trail was pretty rocky and rooty most of the time, and I did take a flying fall. Luckily, I'm still in one piece, but my knee did get tweaked a little. I would encourage trekking poles for this hike.
