We woke up around 6 am, when it started to get light out and the birds started to sing. I'm not a morning person, but on trail waking up this early is natural (as is going to bed at 8 pm). We had a misty morning with no views. But the forest was bright green and looked enchanted. We saw krummholz trees, which my dog is named after.

We had lots of climbing today, but it went okay. For flowers, we mostly saw Clintonia, mountain laurel, and Solomon's plume. As the day wore on, the skies cleared, and we got some views. We stopped by a shelter for a lunch break. I was sleepy from not sleeping well, so I made myself a second cup of tea. That means no tea tomorrow :( We passed by a helicopter pad at a grassy summit.  We were supposed to pass a plane crash site. I didn't see if any remains of the plane were supposed to be there, but we didn't notice any. Our terrain today again was mostly loose rocks.

We arrived at the shelter pretty early but ended up being glad we did. We found flat tent sites. Many sites were not so flat or had roots. People just got creative where they set up, and everyone found spots. I guess I'm picky, lol. I want a flat spot, with privacy, backing up to woods. Lots of people came in later than us. I put in ear plugs and slept great, even sleeping in a bit.
