We had a cold morning on the first day of Daylight Savings Time, so it was hard to get out of bed. But we haven't been hiking in a week due to bad weather. We chose a shorter close hike.
This is a hike that I went on last year by myself as part of the 100 Favorite Trails Challenge. Glen missed out on it, so today we went out together to do it. Neither of us were familiar with Carl Sandburg before, so it's interesting to learn about him. Carl had a rustic chair in the woods behind his house - something I love! Unfortunately, the chair wasn't out today. This is a very "civilized" hike with very well marked, well maintained trails, complete with benches for resting.
On the way home we took a detour to Hendersonville, and passed by Harry's and Piggy's, a unique antique shop/restaurant/ice cream shop. We stopped outside, and I spent some time attempting to sketch the cow with its horn through the roof.
