A short hike with the Carolina Mountain Club this afternoon. I think we've stopped at the Coontree parking lot once before to let Krummholz take a quick swim after a hike to Looking Glass Rock. Snow was lingering on the trails, so out came the microspikes. I wasn't sure if I'd retire these when I moved down here. We got lucky and had sunny skies and mild weather. Looking at the weather in NY - snowy also, but cold. We had a pleasant hike with kindred spirits. After a climb, we got some mountain views (Clawhammer, Looking Glass Rock) through the trees. We crossed paths with another CMC group doing a variation of the same hike. Their hike was a longer version, but they cut it short due to snow depth.
