Directions: Hike from VA 615 to VA 612 (one way)

Today we drove southbound on 615 to get to the parking area. It was shorter compared to approaching it going northbound. Today's hike had several switchbacks in the beginning, but they were very gentle inclines. Overall an easier moderate hike. Perfect to do after yesterday's more challenging day. I remember that rhododendron tunnels used to be a novelty. They are very common in North Carolina though. Rhododendron can be pruned heavily. We had one at our NY house that we though was dying. We pruned it heavily, and didn't remove it. It came back the next year, filling in nicely. We hiked through a burn area today. Lots of small trees were coming up next to the naked dead trees. our hike ended with a road walk.

We are staying at the Days Inn in Wytheville. Not particularly nice, but inexpensive, and they take dogs. Also no interior doors, which we prefer due to covid. There's a supercharger at the hotel next to ours.
