Parking: Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center
Directions: Find the sign saying to "MTS Trail Access" from the Visitor Center parking lot. Take the trail to an intersection to start the loop. We hiked the loop clockwise, so took a left at the first intersection. We did do a slight detour off the loop to see if a tree we reported on Wednesday had been removed, and it had.
I really enjoy my Friday evenings here. First stop was the East Asheville tailgate market to pick up fruits and vegetables. Today we got figs! A young girl wanted to pet Krummholz. I gave her a piece of cheese so she could try asking him to do a trick for her. After dropping off our veggies at home, we did this loop hike. Today's hike was short and very easy. Not many wildflowers left, but we did see one, as well as a cool looking mushroom. I do want to visit the inside of the visitor center sometime - probably will have to leave that to a rainy weekend. After we were done with our hike, we drove down the parkway a short distance to the Folk Art Center for a ranger talk on stories about plants and animals.
