The Carolina Mountain Club has a waterfall challenge, where you visit 100 of the nicest waterfalls in western North Carolina. This waterfall is not on that list. But it's close to Mount Mitchell, so we decided to pull off the road and take a look. There's a sign for the falls, saying it has an 800' drop. We looked. We looked some more. We hiked up a little ways. Still couldn't find it. We did see a large rockface out there. But no water flowing. We saw someone else get out of there car and she looked and looked too. Ha! Then we read about it in the book. It sounds like it's rarely flowing. You have to go on a rainy day, and maybe you'll get lucky. If the stars are aligned. They weren't today.
