Today was an easier hiking day. After breakfast we had a nice long walk through villages - very gentle. We walked at a relaxed pace. We had plenty of time, so considered today an active recovery day. We took breaks even though the trail was flat an easy. There were many UTMB markers set up for the race. It made navigation really easy! We entered the woods and began the climb to Champex Lac. There were many switchbacks to make the climb easier. The hike through the woods was an educational mushroom path. There were many amusing carvings made right into wood stumps. They were fun.

We entered the town of Champex Lac - it was bigger than I expected. You could rent paddle boats for the lake - which looked like so much fun, but I needed to save my leg muscles for hiking! I was hungry today while hiking - maybe I didn't eat enough food for breakfast? We stopped by a grocery store in Champex Lac where I found a tomato, cucumber, avocado, and lime to make myself a salsa. Then back to the hotel for a shower & dinner. Today was a relaxing, slow day, yet our bodies were still tired. Tomorrow we get a little more elevation gain & mileage.

Many houses have beautiful lace curtains. This one was a simple design.
