After setting up camp near the Mount Rogers Shelter, we left our gear at our campsite and hiked to Mount Rogers, the Virginia state high point. Glen and I try to visit a couple of state high points a year, so this was our first one for the year. Since Glen and I are hiking separately this vacation, he had already visited the high point earlier in the week. This is our 16th state high point. The high point goes through some pretty woods, full of moss. There are no views from the summit, nor a summit register. We did see 2 geodesic markers.

  1. I think that was my most favorite hike of all time.

  2. I soooo loved Grayson Highlands. Glen missed the section with the most ponies, so I get to do it again!
