We decided to leave Trek home today. We increased his pain drugs yesterday, and figured he could use some resting. We headed out to Hyde Park in the afternoon to hike at the Winnakee Nature Preserve. This isn't part of the National Park Service parks in the area, so we didn't have to worry about it being closed due to the government shutdown.
We parked behind a florist shop where there is trailhead parking. We figured out a loop that would give us about 1.5 miles. We may come back again and do another loop hitting sections we missed.
Krummholz is so funny about water. In some spots there were large puddles that covered the whole trail. He would literally jump over them to avoid getting his feet wet. When the center of the trail was wet, he'd walk along the edge of the trail. I can see I'll have my work cut out for me when its time to teach him to swim!
