Today we drove from Homestead to Key West. We stopped to take a photo at a famous lobster. Why not? Then we stopped at a sea turtle hospital: The Turtle Hospital. Rescue, Rehab, Release. – The Turtle Hospital. Rescue, Rehab, Release. I love sea turtles!  We took a tour of the hospital and learned about the work they do. It was fascinating and I highly recommend it. It was one of the highlights of our trip for me.

In the afternoon, we settled into Boyd's Campground, where we have a tent site next to the water. The staff there were excellent and helpful. The campground was clean, and the other campers (mostly RV'ers) were relatively quiet at night. It is near the highway, so there was a lot of road noise at night though. Sites are close together with little privacy. The campground has a large pavilion where we brought our meals to cook with our hot water heaters. It was really a nice place to hang out. Since its winter, sunset is early, and it was nice not to be stuck in our tents in the evening because it was dark. We did have an issue with no seeums this first evening. They were biting everyone as we sat in the pavilion. We spent 4 nights at the campground, and it worked out well for us.

The campground has a covered area next to their store. It was perfect for our meals.
