I happened to be in Albuquerque when the Urban Sketchers Albuquerque/Santa Fe group was sketching at the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum, so I joined them. They had all of their admins show up to their sketching event, which was great - they all welcomed me. I enjoy urban sketching, and there are sketching groups all over the world that you can meet up with. Tara and I went to the museum an hour before the meetup, but it really wasn't enough time to see the whole museum.

After lunch, we stopped by Sandia Foothills Open Space. I would say it's the equivalent of Bent Creek in Asheville. A whole mess of trails, popular with dog walkers, joggers, hikers, and bicyclists. Some of the trails are flat, some climb steeply uphill. I won't even attempt to describe our route. We did some steep climbing uphill, and yes, it aggravated the tendon in my foot pretty badly, so we turned around and headed back down for flatter trail. On this hike, I couldn't help myself and decided to touch a cactus spine. Doh! Just touching it was enough to get it lodged underneath my fingernail somehow. Ow. Why did I do that?
