U.S. State high point #8!

We flew into Memphis the night before, and stayed in hotel right over the border in Horn Lake, Mississippi. Today we drove from our hotel to our first state high point of the day, Woodall Mountain. Mississippi is so green! We met a father and daughter at the high point. They weren't high pointers - a friend had told them about the site and they were hoping for a view (there really isn't one). We didn't stay long, because next we were headed to the Alabama State high point.

On the way we passed a sign saying "Coon Dog Cemetery". We didn't stop. A few miles later, we passed another sign for it. This time, I couldn't resist, and decided to see what it was about. It ended up being a 30 minute drive from the highway. Oops, we weren't expecting quite such a long detour. The cemetery is in a rural area. Surprisingly, we weren't the only visitors! We read that there are around 300 coon dogs buried there, the first in 1932. There's even a Wikipedia article on it. We walked around - many of the gravestones had great etchings on them.
