Notes:
We woke up early enough to get in a longer Catskill hike today. After hearing that 40% of people who complete the Catskill 3500 footers go on to do the peak list in winter, Glen is ready to work on this peak list as well. It will definitely be a challenge for us - due to shorter daylight hours and snowshoeing being exhausting. Today's hike included a Catskill 67 peak as well as a winter 3500 footer. It was a challenging hike on the Devil's Path, made easier with the lack of snow. I was sweating so much from climbing that I had to strip down to a short sleeve shirt on the way up. There was a joke on the Catskill 3500 footer page that people would have to do 20 push ups on their winter peaks now - to make them more challenging due to the lack of snow. So, I did do a few :) We only saw 2 other people hiking today. Today's hike had a combination of level areas and steep climbs. Lots of balsam and green moss and green ferns today.
Hmm...our mileage to West Kill didn't match. Nor does the Hunter Mountain Fire Tower distance make sense! |
