Hike directions: Panther Mountain/Lake Wanoksink/Pine Meadow Lake Loop
We varied the original directions by taking the Conklins Crossing and Suffern-Bear Mountain trails at the end.
This is a loop hike with no street crossings (yeah!). It also passes by two ponds (double yeah!), except Trek decided today it was too cold to go swimming. There are a number of stream crossings, one of which we found tricky (short, but easy to get feet wet). Trekking poles are helpful for some of the stream crossings, a couple of which you can cross on a log. This hike has some views (including a view of NYC), but the ponds were more exciting than the views. The beginning/end of the hike is steep. It can be slow going with the deep leaves (I've also done it when it was icy).
