We liked Boulder, so we did a morning hike there on our way from Rocky Mountain National Park to Twin Lakes. We were probably looking for an easy recovery hike, but our hiking book said there weren't many level trails in Boulder. This hike is short but has a lot of elevation gain. It fools you in the beginning - walking across a meadow gradually uphill. A big portion of this hike feels like a stairclimber. There are many stone steps up to the arch.

On the way up, we found ourselves in the middle of a group of school kids on a field trip. Not all of them had time to make it to the top. We ended up carrying out some trash left by the kids :(

One cool thing about Boulder is that they have an off leash dog program. I don't know anyone who lives there, so I haven't heard how well it works, but in theory it sounds like a great idea. We saw a number of on leash and off leash dogs, no issues.

Yeah, no firearms!
