CT Appalachian Trail - Section 2 - Route 7/112 to Iron Bridge

Parking: hiker parking lot, Route 7, just north of the intersection with Route 112

Rest rooms: None

Hike directions:
Head north along Route 7, walking on the shoulder of this busy road.
At traffic light, turn left on Warren Turnpike (a much quieter road).
Past a high school on your left.
The trail turns right into the woods and heads towards the railroad tracks.
Eventually the trail crosses Warren Turnpike again.
Shortly afterwards, you will be hiking next to the Housatonic River.
The train leaves the river and you will pass by a hydroelectric plant on your left.
Turn left on Water Street (dead end quiet road).
Turn left and cross Iron Bridge (pedestrians only, as the bridge needs replacing).
Return the way you came.

Hike description:
Short easy hike. The beginning isn't great with the short road walk, but the walk along the Housatonic is nice.
Lots of wildflowers, including columbines, phlox, and cranesbill.
