Champney Falls Trail to Piper Trail to summit.

Lists: 52 with a View
Notes:
The rocks approaching the summit are very, very rough. Dog booties highly recommended!
This is a very, very popular trail, so expect lots of people on the trail & on the summit.
We mostly hiked with the dogs on leash.
However, the views are phenomenal, so its worth it!

Year to date miles: 240.9

Trail head
Part of the Champney Falls. We didn't get photos of the falls above - there was actually a line of people waiting to take photos. The falls are on the way to the summit, and some people hike just to the falls.
There is a short side path to the falls, which meets up with the main trail if you just continue.
Short detour to a view below the summit
We took the Piper trail to the summit. There are multiple trails for approaching the summit.

The footing becomes very rough at some point, so we put on the booties.
Near the summit, there is gravel, and gravelly rock, which is very rough to touch.

Sometimes the trail was a little hard to find near the summit. There are cairns and blazes.
Following them helps to make sure you don't climb up a difficult way.

The dogs taking a nap on the summit. This never happens!!!
