We woke up too early in the morning considering how late we stayed up last night. We ate a continental breakfast in the hotel and packed up some snacks for lunch. We often had to share tables with others at the hotel, making for some fun traveler conversations.

We went out for a hike starting at Lower Sauma Ridge Trailhead. There's a fale (roadside shelter) at the trailhead. A couple of locals were resting there in the shade. This was a hike almost down to the ocean and back up. It's very hot here. Most of American Samoa is a rainforest - high heat and extremely humid. So even a short hike like this will make us drip with sweat. From the beach, we had a view of Pola Island.

I think this was a taro and coconut dish?

Footing is a bit tricky.
