Carolina Mountain Club Challenges
- 100 Favorite Trails #95 - Tanawha Trail-Linn Cove to Rough Ridge
Today we hiked with Phyllis and Paul to help them on the 100 Favorite Trails challenge. We have already done this hike, but I remember it has really nice views, so we were happy to do it again. The trail itself is very rocky and rooty - so I was slow. It was very, very windy, so when we got to the rock you can climb, we hung on lol. Krumm even clung up to me at the top. Everyone had so much fun, they climbed it twice. Further along the trail, we met a National Park Service volunteer who told us some of the history of the building of the parkway in the area. This is one of the most popular areas of fall foliage in western North Carolina - the Blue Ridge Parkway winding around Grandfather Mountain. On to the boardwalk to see more views - just stunning. Lots of fun and lots of laughing. Krumm was so happy to get out.
