Directions:- Follow Cub Lake Trail, which is a loop trail.
We had a 2-night stay at Natchez Trace State Park. After a relaxing morning reading in our cabin, we headed out for our hike. The Cub Lake Trail runs right by our cabin, so there was no need to drive anywhere today. Yeah! This hike was longer than I should have been hiking with my plantar fasciitis, so I took pain drugs before I started. I was still limping by the time we were 3 miles in. Ugh. This hike goes around Cub Lake as well as going into the woods. The terrain was very easy except for a very swampy part in the woods where other hikers with their clean sneakers got stuck. I just walked through the swamp. We let Krumm wade in the lake just a little bit. We noticed some people boating in the lake. There are boat rentals there, but not until Memorial Day weekend. No wildflowers on this hike, but we both really enjoyed it and our stay here. We both feel like we'd enjoy another visit here. It was very peaceful. The rest of the afternoon and evening were spent reading.

This past week I did an exercise where I tried to sketch bark texture. Bark is very complicated looking! |

Not much green yet at the start of our vacation. |
