Parking:
- Route 281, just past DEW Falls. Tons of parking. Drop off from the road is a bit deep.
Map:
Directions:- Find the trail at the far-left side of the parking lot (near a utility pole). Hike down to the falls. The trail is called John's Jump Trail.
This waterfall is not on the CMC waterfall challenge list. It's so close to DEW Falls. Glen suggested we stop. He just assumed it was on the waterfall list. Nope, but we visited it anyways, because it was so close. Only downside is the dropoff from the pavement to the parking. We went slowly and were fine.
We didn't pay super close attention to Gaia. Don't be like us. There was another trail down towards the falls from the middle of the parking area. It is very steep and tricky. I went all the way down, and thought - is this really it? I slid down for this? It wasn't it. Ha! I checked Gaia. We were so close, but not on the trail. No view of the falls. It was just a herd path to a cascade. Don't go there. Turns out the trail was to the left. We found a way to cut over to the waterfall. Still very steep, but less slippery. This was another good dog swimming hole. We didn't let him stay in the water long, because he was still chilly from his last swim. This was waterfall #6 of the day. An extra stop we didn't plan. There are so many waterfalls in this area - it feels impossible to not stumble across them.
