Another training day on the AT. This time I loaded up 18 lbs in my backpack. Almost to my goal weight. This was a nice hike - the climbs were mostly gradual, and I felt relatively strong. The terrain on this hike seemed more rocky & rooty than other sections around here. I had to be careful about not tripping. I did trip once and dorsiflexed my bad ankle quite a bit. Further than it wants to go. Tonight I'm icing it.
We saw quite a few wildflowers today - violets being the most common. I took some photos of some of them and managed to do it without my water bottles flying out of my pack (which is what typically happens). We saw a number of people on the trail, though very few looked like thru hikers. There is a campground next to Nolichucky River, so I think a number of day hikers with kids might have been comin from there.
