Today we went back out to do more trail maintenance. Our adopted section is 4.1 miles long, meaning at least 8.2 miles of hiking just to see the whole section. In the past 2 trips, we focused on visiting the first 2 miles of the trail. Our hope was to visit the whole section today, so we can report on any issues we find.
We found some trees that were too big for us to use a handsaw on, so a chainsaw crew will have to come out and take care of them. We are hoping they come out soon, as we have quite a few large trees down. Glen wants only positive reviews of our section on Farout ;) We encountered quite a few backpackers today. Some probably thru hikers, but others were not. We did make it to the top but didn't finish the spring trimming and lopping we want to do. I'm hoping one more trip until we feel caught up! Then we can work on some projects - fixing a stream crossing, where the water runs down the trail at times. Improving the tread on the trail - something that feels like it will take years.
Lots of sun today, and we got some nice winter views. Our trail doesn't have views in the summer, but this time of year it does.
