Directions: From parking area, walk on overpass. Continue on AT, passing a sign for Mill Ridge Trailhead. Continue on gravel road until the trail departs the road on the right. Turn around, taking the gravel road back to the parking area.
I wasn't well this morning, so we had to skip our planned hike in the Smokies. I had a dog walker booked (because we can't take Krummholz to the Smokies), so in the afternoon, we decided to get out and fill in a 1 mile gap on the AT, leaving Krummholz at home. We had a 60 degree sunny day. This was an easy hike, that we did at a relaxed pace. We started out walking on an overpass over the high way. From there we left the gravel road and onto the trail for a while. The trail rejoins the gravel road at the Mill Ridge Trailhead. This seems to be a popular trailhead. I'll have to investigate what other trails leave from there. We continued on the road until we came across steps going downhill - this is where we left off on another hike. On the way back, we walked downhill on the gravel road (a scenic walk), back to the parking area.
