We headed out for an easy loop hike in the Catskills. We had the trail to ourselves until we got close to Frick Pond. Many people hike the small loop around the pond. On the Flynn trail, a narrow path in the snow was moderately packed down. The Big Rock Trail had around 9" of snow, and unfortunately was not packed down. Others had bare booted it on the trail, but it wasn't packed down at all. I wish we had brought snowshoes, because I would have used them for this section. Once we hit Times Square, the wide trail was completely packed down from frequent use. We only saw one group of around 10 people - saw them twice as they were doing the smaller loop hike. Krummholz liked this hike because we crossed several streams.
