Map: Pick up a map when you pay for parking.
Parking: Enter park, pay for parking and keep driving straight until you see a sign for the Meadow Picnic Area on your left. There is plenty of parking. Cost is $10 without a Westchester County Parks Pass. $5 with a Parks Pass. I went on a weekend, when they do charge. In the winter we haven't been charged on weekday evenings.
Directions: Take the Fox Hollow trail to the brown trail. Take the brown trail in a clockwise loop until you end up at the same intersection with the Fox Hollow trail. Return to the parking area via the Fox Hollow Trail.
This morning we had to shovel ourselves out before going hiking. We chose a local hike. I took naproxen immediately after shoveling to prevent any back soreness. We had around 7" of snow last night, so we brought snowshoes with us. We never ended up using them though. We arrived at the park at noon, and the trails were already really well packed down! The snow was also melting fast due to warm temps today. We saw a sign of a skier and maybe one snowshoe track, but mostly the trail was just packed down by people bare booting it. We didn't see too many folks out, despite the fact that the trail was already so packed down. The trail was very, very wet in some places. I wore a newish pair of old boots - they don't fit well, but they are still reasonably waterproof - and managed to keep my feet dry despite walking in water a lot. We both took spills - Glen on a boardwalk, and me going down a snowy/leafy hill. Beautiful day to be outside.
