We still had time after our Pine City hike, so we drove to the trailhead for Wall Street Mill. We took a sand road to the hike. Luckily the road was in decent shape. We saw 2 coyotes from our car! Glen jumped out and tried to get photos.

When we reached the parking lot (which you can reach from a paved road), it was full. We drove around a few times until we got a spot. Ack. Yeah, this is a crowded one. We hiked to Wall Street Mill. It seems that most of the other people parked there were either climbers or people hiking to Barker Dam (which we ended up doing on a later date). The highlights of Wall Street Mill - a windmill (to pump water), old cars, and the mill. This trail was a sandy wash, but was very easy. The book overstates the time (we found it did on most hikes). We did this hike in less than an hour.

I really wanted to do the Barker Dam hike (it's short!), but Glen was concerned we wouldn't have enough daylight. We did stop at the entrance of Geology Road to try to take some sunset photos. I tried out various camera settings - my first time using them. The sign at the entrance for the road said that you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle for the road. I know the end of the road requires a high clearance vehicle (and technical driving skills), but I had assumed most of the road would be fine. We had rented a small SUV - and discovered the SUV didn't even have 4 wheel drive. That ruled out one hike for us that started from the midway point on Geology Road.
