I'm leading a hike in Dupont for the Carolina Mountain Club. I looked up the trails ahead of time online, and it looked like everything was open. At the trailhead, there is a map showing all of the closed sections, and unfortunately, part of my route was closed. We came up with a new route, making it up a bit as we went.

Dupont tends to be crowded and today was no different. Luckily, we got a parking spot as someone was pulling out. I brought lots of cheese for Krumm, to reward him for passing by so many dogs. It was fun to visit Triple Falls and High Falls, but yes, the trails were very crowded. We continued to the Three Lakes Trail. This is a single-track trail, and we saw very few people on it. Neither of us had been on this trail and we both liked it a lot. It would be a fun place to take Krumm swimming in the summer. Actually, there is a dock on one of the lakes, so it might be good for people swimming as well.

Actually, Triple Falls Trail appears to be open

Our planned route was fenced off.

At this point, we leave the crowds behind.

Maybe a summer swimming spot?

The second lake was tiny
