My first day of retirement! We decided to go for a short hike. I had wanted to lead this hike for the CMC - as one of a group of 3 hikes that go to the base of Looking Glass Rock. Then I found out the forest service road it's on is closed during the winter. Today, my foot could only handle doing 1 of the 3 hikes. The parking area is on the side of the dirt road. There were spots for maybe 10 cars, and it was close to full even on a Tuesday. Most of the people that hike this trail appear to be rock climbers.

We started out on a trail on the right side of the parking lot that heads to the falls. You can actually hike up this way and connect to the main trail, but we went back down to the road and went up the normal way. This hike starts out pretty tame, but as you approach Looking Glass Rock, it becomes rockier. Some of the trail is muddy, so we just took our time picking our way through the mud and rocks. We saw a few interesting mushrooms on the trail. At the base of Looking Glass Rock, there were a bunch of rock climbers. We took a short break, and then headed back. We stopped at the waterfall for a second time to let Krumm play. There are no deep pools here, but we did let him run around a bit.

    1. I might need surgery on my foot. Going for a second opinion later this month. Ugh!
