Glen tweaked his knee yesterday, by sliding off the trail. It's easy to do when there are leaves on the ground. We decided this was the best hike to do for him with a sore knee. This hike was easy in that it had gentle undulations, not much elevation gain. But again, rocks and roots under leaves added to the challenge.

We tried to do this section last year, but parking was a challenge. There are only 2 parking spots at Teas Road - last year the spots were full. Then, last year, we tried driving down VA 601 to park. We ended up driving backwards down the road, because we thought we'd get stuck. We did end up seeing 2 more parking spots a bit of a walk away on Teas Road, so they could always be used if necessary. We still have a short 6-mile gap to do from Teas Road going the other direction.

We stopped and talked to a thru hiker today. He was heading northbound and had 370 miles to go. He was in good spirits. I think Glen was impressed, because he was obviously older than Glen.

Mount Rogers Visitor Center - closed due to covid
Fanciest shelter I've seen - behind to the visitor center
It has a shower! Though not functional now.
Nice fire ring with benches
In very good condition. Always nice to have a picnic table as well.
Hiking through the green tunnel
Acres of pumpkins!
