Notes:
Last time we were on the Overlook trail, we encountered lots of people skiing down, which surprised us. I'd love to go sledding on this trail (we just bought sleds for hiking), but sledding on ice just doesn't sound as fun as sledding on snow. We need snow!

This trail is challenging for Trek. We encountered so many dogs on it. It just isn't a Trek-friendly hike. If we come back to go sledding, I'm going to leave him home. Everyone heads off to the fire tower, so once you head to Echo Lake, there are far fewer people (and no dogs for us today!).

I have to say, 90% of the people on this trail weren't wearing microspikes. They are brave. I think I would hate hiking if I did this hike with just sneakers on. People somehow managed, trying to walk around the ice. But we did see them slipping a lot.

Solid sheet of ice, but people tended to hug the edge of the trail to stay on dirt.

Just more ice.

At this turn off, the trail becomes less crowded

Switching to slushy snow

Some bare ground, some slush, some solid sheet of ice on this trail.

Lots of beaver activity at Echo Lake

Trek and Glen hanging out while I climb the fire tower

Monastery with prayer flags across the street from the parking area.
