Hike description:
Really nice hike with a lot of variety. The first section is a steep climb up to Jug End. There are rock steps and switchbacks. At the top there is a wide open view. It is thru hiker season - we saw a few during our hike.

The hike to the north of Jug End Road was very easy. Part of it is open woods, part of it is across fields, part of it is above swamps. There are a few stream crossings in this section, which was great because it was a warm humid day. Bug spray was a good idea. We saw sheep, cattle, a turtle, a snake (that swims), a red winged blackbird, and many butterflies. There are several road crossings during this section, so we ended up keeping the dogs on leash. The footing was excellent - it felt nice to be able to move quickly without worrying too much about tripping. It was mostly a grass or dirt trail, with occasional roots. Sometimes puncheon or boardwalks as well.

Hazy Jug End view

Trek climbed the ladder by himself. Moxie, not so much.
