Hike description:
We crossed paths with several through hikers - pretty much everyone we saw was a through hiker today. Some would barely acknowledge us - they just looked determined as they flew by. Others stopped for a minute and usually asked questions about our dogs. We got an offer of trail magic (cold beverages) even though we are just day hikers. It was a hot day, in the 80's. Luckily most of the trail is pretty level, because any uphill hiking was just too tiring in the heat. The one stream at .7 miles had plenty of water. Other streams were just completely dry. We felt like we could have hiked further, but we needed to make sure we had enough water for the dogs, so we turned around at 5.2 miles.

Trail enters woods at Hoyt Road

Good for the navigationally challenged :)

Train schedule posted right at trail

There were long sections of puncheon.
The dogs kept knocking each other off.

Turnaround point at 5.2 miles.
