Earthquake Trail, Point Reyes National Seashore, CA

December 23, 2013

Miles: 0.7
Time: 26 minutes

Parking: Bear Valley Visitor Center, Bear Valley Road, off of Route 1, Point Reyes. Huge parking lot.

Rest rooms: In the parking area.

Map: Point Reyes National Seashore
Hike directions: Hike starts to the left of the restrooms in the furthest parking area.

Hike description: This is a very short loop trail which has interpretive signs. It crosses the San Andreas fault line.
I didn't find it terribly exciting. It is a paved trail.

Post hike dinner: The Plant Cafe, Mill Valley, CA (north of the Golden Gate bridge). This location is more casual than the Burlingame location. You order your food at a counter. This restaurant is not vegetarian, but clearly lists vegan items on their menu. All of the food was delicious.

Year to date miles:  401

Huge parking area at the visitor center.

We decided to check out the short earthquake trail.

Lots of trees covered in what I guess is Spanish moss here.

We did find the earthquake trail kind of dull.
I guess the high point of the short hike was seeing the fault line where the ground moved this far apart (area between the fences).

The trail is paved, with a few interpretive signs along the way.
