Notes:
This hike is a bushwhack the whole way. We found it hard. We almost turned back, because we weren't sure if we would make it back before dark. So happy to find the canister. It was sprinkling when we drove to the trailhead, however the top half of the mountain was covered in snow. This made going down the mountain easy when there was snow cover - we followed our tracks down, checking the compass periodically. Once we lost the snow, we kept going down, didn't check our compasses enough, and veered too far to the left, making our hike down slower than our hike up. We were the only people who did this hike today. The dogs were covered in burrs - so bad that we had to cut them out.

Start at the green gate. |
Shortly afterwords, turn right on an unmarked trail. It only lasts a few feet. |
Walk along a woods road briefly. |
The concrete pillars mentioned in the trip instructions. Not so easy to spot. |
Crossing a dry stream bed. |
The climb above the stream bed is very steep. Easy to slip downwards. |
A dusting of snow on the leaves. |
A bigger dusting of snow. |
If I wasn't so exhausted, this would be really beautiful. The snowfall is fresh from last night. |
Found the canister at the summit. Very relieved! |
